Certificate for Microsoft Authenticode certificate is used to sign codes and it is dedicated to programmers creating MS Windows operating system applications. Thanks to this certificate it is possible to sign software binary codes electronically and to have electronic signatures verified by an operating system and a recipient of an application. This certificate is compatible with Microsoft Authenticode, created by Microsoft to ensure integrity and authenticity of software operating under the control of MS Windows operating systems. Microsoft Authenticode certificate authenticates a creator of an application and carries the author’s name and/or data of the company that created it.

Application

This certificate is mainly used to ensure integrity of created software. It protects applications or files published or sent across the Internet against hackers’ interference, and against getting infected with a harmful code. Since the certificate carries a software author’s details and/or data of a company that produced an application, it is also used to confirm the authenticity of software by means of reliable authentication of an application’s author. In case of downloading and running software through the Internet, this certificate is used by an operating system to identify reliable and secure applications.

• issued by CERTUM - a certificate authority holding a WebTrust certificate which confirms the compliance with international standards for Certification Authorities,

• verification of the certificate's status is possible via CRL lists and the OCSP protocol.
